70 Broad - The LOJ
Positioned within the ongoing redevelopment of the Lower Campus, this building will establish a strong presence along Broad Street while contributing to the creation of a vibrant new “quad” at its core.
The 24-unit building incorporates a thoughtful mix of private and shared spaces to foster community among students. A welcoming porch, living and dining areas, a communal kitchen, laundry facilities, and accessible circulation spaces are designed to encourage interaction and connection. Shared bathrooms will serve both the residential rooms and common areas, with all spaces—residential and communal—meeting accessibility standards to ensure inclusivity for all students.
Sustainability is a core aspect of the design, with The LOJ aimed to achieve LEED Silver certification. The project will adhere to Colgate University’s Green Building Standards, ensuring that sustainable practices are embedded in every aspect of the design. The LOJ not only meets the modern needs of today’s students but also contributes to the broader vision of a sustainable and vibrant campus for Colgate University.
